I've always had this vision in my head of this awesome place for me to churn out novels. My "awesome place" has floor to ceiling book shelves, a whiteboard that takes up an entire wall, an awesome sound system, clouds painted on the ceiling, and the mother of all iMac's sitting on a massive, super cool desk.
There may or may not be a water feature in the corner. (I haven't decided if the sound of trickling water would calm me, or just send me to the bathroom every five minutes.)
In reality, I spend most of my writing time tapping away at my laptop on the couch while my son watches Toy Story 2 for the sixth time since he woke up.
So where do you write? Where would you like to?
:-)
Hi! I'm part of your YA group. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteI write at my desk most of the time, with a dog or two at my feet.
Hello I just joined your YA group! Looking forward to getting to know you.
ReplyDeleteFor me I write where ever I can- there are too many kids around here to find the perfect spot- someone would steal it. lol
I have a small desk that sits in front of the picture window in our living room - a bookshelf on the wall at my left. It's not a bad spot - I can still be physically in the room with my family, but also focused on my own thing. Sometimes I do long for the room you describe above, whiteboard, and all - but, alas, we just don't have it. One of these days, I may venture out into the world and try writing at a cafe or a library to do a little people-watching as I write, but most of the time it's just too easy to sit down in my own living room and type away. :)
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, the only place I write is in my bedroom. If I had to write anywhere it would be in a cabin somewhere far away from all the hustle and bustle of the city.
ReplyDeleteHilarious! Well, I write at the Starbucks every morning. Not that I am a huge Starbucks fan, but it's only a block away. I have to get up and out to get the Muse inspired.
ReplyDeleteGlad to be part of your Platform Group!
Hi Megan, I'm loving your blog. I especially like this one about "where do you write". Love the photo of the desk. I gave a shout out to your blog and this post on my blog today. :)
ReplyDeleteI just discovered you from here (http://www.kimberlymontgomeryblog.com/2011/08/where-we-write.html), and I love the idea of an awesome place for writing. I know exactly what you mean! I am looking forward to reading more of your posts. I am in the campaign, too (for short stories, adult fiction and literary non-fiction).
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I love orange, and I must have that desk!
ReplyDeleteEverytime I purchase a desk, we seem to move and the old desk it thrown out. Hubby then "inherits" my desk, and I write with my labtop on the couch. Thanks to him, I'm an arthritic hunchback. Oh well, he's the one that has to look at me. =)
Dropping by from the campaign . . .
ReplyDeleteI know that a water feature would definitely make me run back and forth to the bathroom all day long!
The desk would be even more awesome in blue!
I loved this post, your blog and your descriptions. I also love Jane Austen, am overly emotional and sleep deprived LOL Must be a writer thing. I am slowly converting a bedroom to my office. So far I have my cool milky glass desk, two bookshelves, my iMac and can't live without Keurig. Next will be flooring, deciding over wood or linoleum. I dream of having a white board wall and recently ran across white board spray paint and am seriously considering it. Hugs!!!!
